Yet experts are quick to stress that technology alone is not enough, because a great many breaches still begin with the same old weaknesses, from unpatched software to reused passwords, meaning that basic security discipline matters more than ever.

The uncomfortable truth of 2026 is that cybersecurity has become a permanent arms race, one in which both sides wield the same powerful tools, and where staying safe depends not on any single defence but on constant vigilance and preparation.
